Green Chemistry innovation in Organic preparation
Research Rajender S. Verma at Departement of Chemistry, Sam Houston State University has discovered solvent free organic synthesis with the help of microwave.
The process of organic synthesis involves the exposure of solution reactant to the microwave irradiation combining support with reagents or mineral catalyst.
Reagents like Fe(NO3)3-clay (clayfen), Cu(NO3)2-clay (claycop), NH4NO3-clay (clayan), NH2OH-clay, PhI(OAc)2-alumina, NaIO4-silica, CrO3-alumina, MnO2-silica, NaBH4-clay, etc are highly recyclable and can be used in various chemical reactions.
The method of combining reagent and microwave can be used to take out wide range of reactions in short times with high conversions and selectivity, without the need for solvents.
